So often we do things automatically not even realizing that they are unique and special and that not everyone can do what we do.
We all have talents that we take for granted. And yet they are often the actions that bring us so much joy.
We get into this state of being and flow when we do those activities and then doing isn’t even doing any more – it’s being.
It can be an artist being the art. A surfer being the wave. A singer being the song- it’s this magical moment of when there is no longer any separation between you and the activity.
Not everyone gives themselves permission to be that present to the activity. They get so caught up with concern over what people will think or they worry about how they will look or be judged.
Yet if they could let themselves be their True Self, for just a moment, they would discover that none of it even matters, for the thoughts and judgements will not be nearly as harsh as they perceive it could be. Nor does it matter, because it is like an Olympic athlete who gets feedback from a cranky spectator who has never once put themselves out there because the fear of failure inside of them prevents them from even trying.
Today, take a moment to pause and appreciate those instances where you flow effortlessly through an activity. Whether it is analyzing a report (it’s like those numbers and that data just speaks to you), or cooking dinner blending flavours together so they dance, driving and parallel parking effortlessly- just get present to the ease of how you do what you do. Get present to how you feel in the moment, appreciate it, love it, go deeper.
These are your gifts and talents. You have many of them – you just need to acknowledge them. Try this for a few days and tell me what you notice in your life. I bet you will boost your confidence and see yourself in a new light.
