The Summer Solstice, also known as Litha, Midsummer or Alban Heruin, is the day with the most daylight in the year. The sun is most powerful at this time and new life is growing and flourishing on our dear Mother Earth. After today, the nights will once again become longer and the sun will move further away in the sky.
The Summer Solstice is typically around the 21st or 22nd of June in the Northern Hemisphere or December 21st or 22nd in the Southern Hemisphere. On this day there is a moment where the sun reaches the zenith point in the sky and it appears to just hang there without moving.
Ahhh… winter feels like a lifetime away and spring has been working her magic in the gardens and forests. And we’ve arrived at the perfect time of the season to delve into the joy that surrounds us outside.
The Summer Solstice is also a time to honour the cycle of Divine Masculine energy. Father Sun is the instigator for many powerful divine masculine qualities such as assertion, courage, strength, responsibility, clarity and focus. This half of the year is about embracing those qualities to move forward powerfully in your life. Take some time to reflect on your personal targets for the next 6 months.
Of course, this time of year is focused on growth, especially with the delicious food that nourishes us and the beauty of flowers and green that feed our soul. To honour and stimulate the abundance in nature, please consider this beautiful garden blessing to encourage the plants, bushes and trees in your garden to flourish.
Summer Solstice Garden Blessing
If possible, be outside in your garden when offering this blessing. It’s most powerful if you can be barefoot and even consider touching your plants as you offer this blessing. If you have a container garden, be next to your containers, and speak lovingly to the plants as you recite the blessing
