Spring is a magical time of year. Time of rebirth, time for planting new seeds. Time for renewal. Time for growth and expansion.
In Canada we are blessed to experience each of the seasons in their full glory. I believe that we are one with everything, and the changing of the seasons are experienced in each of us as well. Just as our emotions are affected by the cycles of the moon, our bodies and energy fields are affected by the changes in beautiful Mother Earth and our powerful energy source, Father sun.
You can look to nature for guidance on what your body and soul need right now to support you with springing forward confidently. There are so many signs and omens in nature that show us the way.
Something magical happens the more time you spend with nature. The more you learn about nature, the more you learn about yourself. The more aware you are about the activity in nature, the greater your awareness is in your own life.
For insight, look to:
Mother Nature: What does her weather tell you?
It is still early in the season and the weather is slowly transforming from winter to spring. It doesn’t happen overnight. Some days will be beautiful and sunny, while others will bring back a freezing white wonderland- just when you thought the snow was over! It’s a process. And don’t try to rush the process. When the weather is yucky outside, consider the invitation to go inside of yourself and do some self reflection.
When the weather is beautiful and sunny, with a delicate warm breeze, connect with the sun and the wind. Ask them what messages they have for you.
Mother Earth’s creatures: What is being whispered by the trees, plants and bushes?
Mother Earth and the gorgeous plants, trees and shrubs that are grounded in her glory have so much wisdom to share. For me my favourite signs of spring are the purple, white and yellow crocuses and seeing the buds on the magnolia trees. This new growth and expansion marks a fresh start to a year. It’s a time to plant seeds- ideas, projects, seeds for prosperity.
Notice the colours of spring- vibrant against the dull garden that is still waking up.
The fresh scents of spring cleanses our energy fields, our auras – it is aromatherapy on our doorstep.
Then the trees and bushes begin to spring to life, with their buds starting to open and flowers begin to show themselves to the world opening to the sun in the sky, ready to begin to feed the insects and hummingbirds. Notice all of this life force energy surrounding you. Tune into it as you go for a walk in the forest. Hug a tree, touch the new leaves and soft buds. Ask this new growth what inspiration it has to share.
Animal Totems: Who do you see? What do you hear?
As animals come out of hibernation, it’s like the world comes to life again. Our feathered friends from the south, reappear and you can begin to hear the call of the red winged black bird and robins announcing their return.
The animals speak to us, through their presence, their behavior, their habits, their song and chatter. They tell us what kind of energy is coming into our life.
In general to interpret what an animal’s message is:
Notice the way the animal lives it life.
Is it nocturnal, or does it play during the day.
Is it a quiet hunter or is it’s call a loud alarm of danger.
What colour is it?
What characteristics is the animal well known for?
Nature has so much to teach us and show us to expand our personal and universal awareness. Teach us what our bodies and souls need now to cleanse and rejuvenate and be ready for the growth and expansion of the season.
Spending time in nature is calming, soothing, nurturing and healing. Mother Earth and Mother Nature are good teachers.
