As you walk through life, you may get caught up with the roles society tells us we need to play. You viewpoint may begin to change in disagreement with what appears to be the norm. A rebellion against what “is” often begins with the question “who am I?”
How do you begin to answer that?
Who am I not?
Truly, it would be easiest to begin by asking yourself “who am I not?”
This process of elimination will help you get to a truer sense of what direction to look into to discover who you truly are.
Look in the Mirror
You can look in the mirror and describe what you see and feel when you look there, although some people may not be able to look there, for there is too much judgement and not enough love to be able to look into the eyes of the most beautiful soul.
Play like a Child
You can run outside and play like a child on a summer’s day. Laugh and sing, and then declare who you are- King of your life, an astronaut, musician, comedian, whatever you can dream of. Because when you are in that childlike state, you can be whomever or whatever you want to be.
Yet, regardless of what label you put on yourself in that moment, there is still an essence to explore more deeply, that gets you to the true core of your True Self.
Surrender and go to the Edge
This pensive reflection comes when you allow yourself to surrender. Whether it is a simple declaration before your meditation, inviting the universe to reflect back to you your true essence; or if you decide to put yourself on the edge, do something that scares and exhilarates you, takes you beyond your comfort zone, so you can catch a glimpse of your warrior self to see your true strength.
It is somehow being on the edge of the reality that you typically live, right on the border or even beyond it so you can see what lays outside and you can contrast it to how you have been living. It allows you to bear witness to the distinction between the versions of you.
It takes time
It takes time to explore, try on, consider and digest these possibilities before you can come to a place of understanding Who Am I? The journey to get to the answer is part of the deliciousness of realizing your Truth. Be gentle on yourself. This is a vulnerable walk into your heart.
