Sometimes it show’s up as a voice in your head guiding you on what to do, other times, it’s a nauseous feeling when you’ve managed to get yourself into a bad situation- whatever it is, there are times when we get a sure sign of what it is we are supposed to (or not supposed to) do. 1. Be quiet- try meditation

2. Move your body – dance like no one is watching
O.k. so what does moving your body have to do with listening to your intuition? Plenty. When you allow yourself to move in whatever way your body is feeling called to move, you are letting your intuition, your heart and soul lead the way. The more opportunities your heart and soul has to express itself, the more wisdom it will share.
3. Journal -write to your heart’s content
Journalling is such a wonderful tool for expressing what’s going on in your life. By putting pen to paper, it’s like you’ve finally had a chance to pour your heart out to your best friend. Often times as you’re writing you get wonderful insights into situations, new perspectives you hadn’t noticed before (sometimes this comes when you’re re-reading your journal too) and those little aha moments, when you “get it” are priceless.
4. Believe in yourself- positive self talk
Often times we’re our own biggest critic, and much of those 60,000 + thoughts going through our heads are not cheerleaders cheering us on. And sometimes you need to invest in what I call positive reprogramming. Recognizing when these delimiting thoughts are coming to surface, and replacing them with affirmations. Or better yet, busying your mind with positive affirmations so the negative talk doesn’t even have a chance to get started. What does this have to do with your intuition?
Well, if your mind is flooded with negative self talk, the few words of wisdom from your intuition will likely be discounted and counteracted with many other unsupportive thoughts. When you’re in a positive frame of mind, the unique wisdom you get from within your heart, which knows your true potential, won’t seem so far fetched, and you will be more likely to act on this inner knowing.
5. Choose happiness
One fantastic way to get in touch with your intuition is to use happiness as a gage when making decisions, then listen to your heart or your gut for the reaction to the choices you’re making. When you make choices that create the most happiness in your life and in the lives of the people around you, then you know that you’re on the right track. When I say choose happiness, I’m not referring to a controlling happiness- letting your future mother-in-law control the invitation list to the wedding. And I also don’t mean always putting your happiness aside for the sake of others. Choose the option that is going to create peace in your heart, and happiness in others. If selecting an option that makes others happy and tears you up inside- well that’s your intuition screaming at you that you need to re-think this situation.
I was offered a project a few years ago that would have suited me and my family’s needs really well. I accepted the project – it made my husband happy, the client happy and well, everyone was happy, except me. When I started to work on the project I felt so sick inside, I knew I made the wrong choice. Thankfully, everyone involved also wanted me to be happy and I was able to step away graciously. I accepted another project that led me to wonderful new connections, the fulfillment of a little dream I had always wanted to do and things falling into place quite beautifully.
The bottom line is that you need to take the time to nurture you. When you invest this time in you, magic starts to happen as that little voice inside gets a chance to be heard. Things shift in your life, you listen more, laugh more and life just seems to get a little simpler, one day at a time.
